Japanese Silkworm Scientists Visited Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology (SIPPE)

January 6, 2010, a delegation of Japanese scientists, including Dr. Shiotsuki Takahiro and Dr. Kajiwara Hideyuki (National Institute of Agrobiological Science) visited Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology (SIPPE). The delegation, with expertise of the functional genomics and genomic technology of silkworm, was invited by the International Exchange and Cooperation (IEC) office, Ministry of Agriculture of China. By the visit, delegation wishes to enhance the information exchange of silkworm research and pursue opportunities for future collaboration among the scientists of the two countries. Ms. Yu Yang from IEC accompanied the delegation visit.

Dr. Yongping Huang, Deputy Director of SIPPE, received the delegation. In SIPPE, seminars entitled "Application of mass spectrometry for the analysis of silkworm proteins and others" and "Functional and biochemical analysis of juvenile hormone esterase and Ras protein", were presented by Dr. Kajiwara Hideyuki and Dr. Shiotsuki Takahiro, respectively. Dr. Li Sheng and Dr. Ling Erjun of the Research Center for Insect Sciences of SIPPE discussed their researches with the delegation. Dr. Huang Yongping showed guests of the laboratories in the Research Center for Insect Sciences. (Lin Nan; Lai-geng Li)
